The State of DevOps in Data Engineering

DevOps plays a crucial role in modern data engineering, similar to its significance in the past data science workflows. Despite its importance, DevOps is often underrated in data engineering. Key practices include Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipeline testing, and GitOps as a central workflow. Implementation is time-consuming but enhances project efficiency and maintains deployment standards. The article provides eight key learnings and a reference example for Kubernetes-based data platforms using GitOps.
