AI data center construction is driving demand for temporary worker housing known as 'man camps,' a concept borrowed from the oil industry. Target Hospitality, a company that also operates an ICE detention facility in Texas, has secured $132 million in contracts to build and run one such camp in Dickens County, Texas, which could house over 1,000 workers building a 1.6 gigawatt data center converted from a Bitcoin mining facility.
