Threat intelligence has a structural blind spot: it organizes defenses around adversary types (cybercriminals, harassers, nation-states) rather than the human vulnerabilities those adversaries exploit. A personal experience with email bombing—used simultaneously as a harassment tactic and a fraud cover-up—illustrates how the same cognitive overload mechanism underlies attacks across completely different threat domains. Platform trust and safety teams and fraud/security teams rarely communicate despite solving fundamentally similar problems.
