Oracle owns the JavaScript trademark despite having no involvement in creating, maintaining, or evolving the language. Ryan Dahl, creator of Node.js, is leading a legal challenge to cancel Oracle's trademark, arguing the company has abandoned it and that JavaScript has become a generic term.
