Orion, the WebKit-based web browser from Kagi, has entered early beta on Linux. Built natively with GTK4/libadwaita and WebKitGTK, it offers a GNOME-native experience rather than being a Chromium or Firefox fork. The beta is now available to anyone (not just Orion+ subscribers), distributed as a Flatpak. Current functionality includes basic tab management, bookmarks, password saving, and multiple tab layout options, but features like address bar autocomplete and Page Tweaks are missing or non-functional. Installation requires Flatpak and pulls the GNOME 49 runtime (~700MB on first install). The browser is free to use, with an optional Orion+ subscription for early builds and more development input. Full feature parity with the macOS version is the long-term goal.
