OpenAI has launched a formal partner programme for Codex, its AI coding agent, enlisting global systems integrators Cognizant and CGI as the first named partners. The programme targets enterprises that lack internal capability to implement and govern AI coding tools, extending Codex's use cases beyond code generation to legacy modernisation, vulnerability detection, and agentic workflows. Codex now has 3 million weekly active developers, up 6x among ChatGPT Business and Enterprise users since January. OpenAI's enterprise segment accounts for over 40% of revenue and is on track to match consumer revenue by end of 2026. The move also raises concerns for SaaS vendors like Salesforce and Workday, as enterprises may use AI coding agents to build bespoke software instead of buying standard products.
