OpenAI expanded its $5/month ChatGPT Go subscription plan to 16 Asian countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and Pakistan, with local currency payment options in select markets. The plan offers higher daily limits for messages, image generation, and file uploads compared to the free tier. This expansion follows successful launches in India and Indonesia, where paid subscribers doubled. OpenAI competes directly with Google's similarly priced AI Plus plan as both companies target high-growth Asian markets. ChatGPT now has 800 million weekly active users globally, though OpenAI reported $7.8 billion in operating losses in H1 2025.
