The company plans to offset this by growing its cheaper, ad-supported ChatGPT Go tier from 3 million to 112 million subscribers — a 3600% increase. The author argues the math doesn't add up: even at full projected growth, OpenAI would still fall $155 million short in revenue, while also massively increasing its burn rate. Is there any reasons on why Go tier will be subscribed like this much madly even with ads?

IDK, I feel like ever since I started using LLM’s locally , I never really needed to reach out to the ol’ free versions of Claude or any others- that’s another thing, I never used chatGPT , like, not even 1x always got annoyed when I started using LLM’s about 4-6mths ago. I would hate how it let me ask like 3-4 questions and then all of a sudden the performance would go down the tube- stuck to just using gemini and plan old google searches, lol. Then I discovered Claude, and haven’t used any other models until I downloaded Ollama. I can only afford to run a 20-25b LLM locally whilst still being GPU accelerated but the model helps me out so much with work/school and learning many different things this past month.

AI companies should find ways to force you to be on their platform.
Compare this to WhatsApp. Many people hate it but you cannot switch to alternatives because people would have to be on them, too, but many are only on WhatsApp.
But if you hate ChatGPT? You just use Claude, no reason to stay with ChatGPT.
We of course would all absolutely hate this. I am talking from their perspective, not ours.

It’s becoming pretty clear that the prices of ram, storage and gpus are artificially inflated to (long term) keep people from running their own LLMs, without these shady orgs.

Is this another claim from OpenAI? Because earlier I read a news article where their CFO just said that they are finding it hard to meet projected revenue. I guess this is the start of the end if nothing changes.
