OpenAI released GPT-5.3 Codex, a new model designed to enhance its Codex agentic coding tool launched earlier this week. The model enables Codex to perform nearly any task developers do on a computer, can build complex games and apps from scratch over days, and is 25% faster than its predecessor GPT-5.2. The release came minutes after competitor Anthropic launched its own agentic coding model, with Anthropic moving its announcement up by 15 minutes to beat OpenAI's scheduled 10 a.m. PST release.
