OpenAI has updated its ChatGPT app and AI image generator, DALL-E 3, to include metadata tagging to identify AI-generated images. The company is implementing the change for web images immediately and for all mobile ChatGPT users by February 12. The metadata is based on the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) specifications. OpenAI's move comes after Meta announced a similar measure for labeling AI images. C2PA aims to certify the source and history of media content to combat disinformation and content fraud.
