Kiro IDE now supports open weight AI models including DeepSeek v3.2, MiniMax 2.1, and Qwen3 Coder Next. These models offer different trade-offs: DeepSeek excels at agentic workflows and multi-step reasoning, MiniMax provides strong multilingual programming support and UI generation, while Qwen3 Coder Next delivers efficient coding agent capabilities with 256K context. All models are available in both IDE and CLI with varying credit multipliers (0.05x to 0.25x), giving developers more flexibility to match model capabilities to specific tasks based on speed, cost, and quality requirements.
