A maker known as LCLDIY built a cyberpunk-styled laptop featuring a custom open-source PCI graphics card designed to drive 10-inch electroluminescent (EL) displays. The card is based on the CHIPS65548/5 chip with Linux and Windows driver support. EL screens are rare in DIY projects due to cost and driving complexity, making this open-source card notable. The same display and graphics card were also used to build a giant Game Boy, showcasing the EL display's retro-friendly soft glow.
