An open-source sailboat pulley (block) design has been developed that can replace many proprietary pulleys found on modern sailboats. Built with a CNC-machined aluminum body and a self-lubricating nylon polymer roller, the two-part design allows lines to be inserted without freeing an end. It supports up to 14 mm lines, can be stacked in various configurations for different rigging tasks, and outperformed comparable proprietary stainless steel pulleys in testing. Being open-source, anyone can fabricate their own.
