One open NOS, any workload: SONiC on Cisco

Cisco outlines its strategic commitment to SONiC, the open-source Linux-based network OS, detailing contributions across the full networking stack including SAI extensions, EVPN/VXLAN multihoming, SRv6 uSID, FRRouting enhancements, and MACsec. Two consumption models are offered for the Cisco 8000 Series: a DIY SDK path for hyperscalers and prebuilt validated images for enterprises. The N9000 Series will also gain SONiC support alongside existing ACI/NX-OS options. Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric wraps SONiC with a cloud controller for zero-touch provisioning and lifecycle management.
