Anil Dash highlights CorridorKey, an open-source AI tool for green screen keying created by Corridor Digital's Niko Pueringer, as an example of ethical AI done right. The tool was trained on consensually gathered synthetic data, is fully open source with open weights, runs on consumer hardware, and imposes no surveillance or restrictions on users. Within days of release, the community improved usability and reduced hardware requirements dramatically. Dash argues this proves that the harmful behaviors of Big AI companies — non-consensual training data, closed models, environmental recklessness — are deliberate choices, not technical necessities. He sees purpose-built, community-driven, under-hyped AI tools as a viable alternative to one-size-fits-all commercial platforms.
