On Choosing Rust

I am mostly a .net c# person. I do delve in to other languages, mostly the ones that start with p, j, and t with a little s thrown in. ( I did that to show descriptive variables is always the best route)
Never written anything in rust, but 2026 is coming and a new year. Might give it a go.

I have a fear of Rust and would like to overcome it someday, so I might be biased.
Even so, I disagree with the following part of this post:

If Rust would make Ubuntu better, it should branch off into a separate distro like Rubuntu or something.
Sure, C might be old and not a perfect language, but this post just sounds like some Rust fanatics trying to invade the Ubuntu OS.
It’s actually a bit sad that Ubuntu as a whole considered going down that path.

Rust is such a universal backdoor…

I’ve written a few personal projects in rust. I’m not super duper into open source but I imagine there are benefits for open-source teams to swap to a language that in some ways protects from common annoying bugs. Especially when many people push for new programmers to dig into open source out the gate.
