NVIDIA has released a preview Linux driver implementing the DRM per-plane color pipeline API, which landed in Linux 6.19. The driver enables Wayland compositors to leverage GPU display hardware for accelerating color processing, including HDR support. The preview is aimed at Wayland compositor developers to test and integrate NVIDIA's capabilities ahead of an official release. Notably, NVIDIA disclosed that nearly all of the implementation code was generated by Claude Sonnet/Opus LLMs under strong human direction and review.
