NVIDIA has published an FAQ addressing concerns about DLSS 5, its AI-powered neural rendering technology targeting photorealistic visuals. The company explains that artistic intent is preserved by anchoring the AI model's output to the game's original color data and motion vectors, while giving developers granular controls over intensity, color grading, blending, contrast, saturation, and gamma. Developers can also mask specific objects or areas from enhancement. Launch titles include Assassin's Creed Shadows, Hogwarts Legacy, and Resident Evil Requiem. The preview demo required two RTX 5090 GPUs but will be optimized for a single GPU at launch, targeted for fall 2026. Skepticism remains, with the author noting the current demo doesn't look convincing for those serious about visual craft.
