NTT Data has activated 400Gbit/s peering at the Johannesburg Internet Exchange (Jinx), claiming to be the first network operator in Africa to do so. The upgrade enhances capacity, resilience, and latency for enterprises, cloud providers, and consumers. Jinx, Africa's oldest internet exchange established in 1996, is operated by INX-ZA. The move comes amid rapid growth in African internet traffic driven by cloud, streaming, and AI workloads, and as hyperscale data centres expand their Johannesburg presence.
