NTFS-3G FUSE Driver Sees First New Release In Four Years

NTFS-3G 2026.2.25 has been released, marking the first new version of the FUSE-based user-space NTFS driver in four years since the 2022.10.3 release. The update is primarily a bug-fix release, but also includes improvements to mkntfs (microsecond-level volume creation time), ntfsinfo, and ntfsclone, along with a security fix addressing a heap buffer overflow when POSIX ACLs are enabled. The release coincides with recent NTFS-related activity in the Linux kernel, including a new NTFS driver merged for Linux 7.1 and fixes to the existing NTFS3 kernel driver.
