Azure Cosmos DB Data Explorer now supports role-based access control (RBAC) within both the Azure Portal and the standalone app. RBAC uses Microsoft Entra ID identities for granular data access, enhancing security by eliminating the need for account keys. It also integrates with Entra ID features like Conditional Access and Privileged Identity Management. Users can enable RBAC via the Entra ID RBAC setting and perform different actions based on their assigned roles.
