Apple is introducing a new subscription payment option on the App Store: monthly subscriptions with a 12-month commitment. This lets developers offer more affordable pricing while locking users into a year-long plan. Users can cancel anytime but must complete their committed payments. Transparency features include payment tracking in Apple Account and renewal reminders via email and push notifications. Developers can configure and test this in App Store Connect and Xcode starting today. The feature will be available globally (excluding the US and Singapore) with iOS/iPadOS/macOS/visionOS 26.5 in May.

<p>It don’t mind this given they can cancel ahead of the renewal and they also send out notifications about an upcoming renewal.  I always dislike companies that use underhand methods of not reminding you of renewals.</p>
