Depot has launched Depot CI, a fully programmable CI engine built from the ground up to address performance limitations of existing CI systems. Unlike traditional CI that relies on third-party control planes, Depot CI owns 100% of the stack — from orchestration to compute. It is built on an internal system called Switchyard, which schedules and dispatches tasks across a fleet of custom compute with prewarmed runner images, checkpoint replay, and full API access. It is GitHub Actions-compatible via a migration command, starts jobs in seconds, supports SSH debugging, CPU/memory metrics, and programmatic triggering of runs before commit. Pricing is $0.0001/second with no minimums. The motivation is the shift in software development bottlenecks driven by AI agents generating code at unprecedented scale, which existing CI infrastructure cannot handle.
