Next.js adopted Baseline widely available browsers as its default support criteria, enabling fewer polyfills and more modern web features. The Baseline in Action series launched with articles on container queries, image galleries, and dialog/popover elements. Two case studies from Cybozu and Target.com demonstrate how organizations eliminated browser compatibility overhead using Baseline. Several CSS color functions (color(), color-mix(), oklab(), oklch()) and features like nth-child() selectors and compression streams achieved Baseline Widely available status in November 2025.
