Hello! I’ve been doing some game dev as a hobby for the past couple years and am also studying Computer Science in Sixth-Form. I am starting to think of trying something new and learning to actually develop software, web dev, be a DSA slave or the like. But the problem is I’m not really sure what I should focus on?
There’s so many different things, I don’t really know what to start on or what’s a worthwhile endeavour. I’d rather tackle something generally applicable everywhere than hyperfocus on a specific language or framework, and I’d like to get right to developing something, but also don’t know where to start with that.
I know this question is extremely vague, so I’ll also phrase it in another way. What I want to accomplish this year (or maybe over a longer period) is to make some sizable open-source contributions on different projects while not hyper-focusing on specific types of projects, but I don’t know how I’d go about getting there, which I’d like some advice on.
Getting some advice or sense of direction would be extremely appreciated.
