Niri 26.04, the scrollable-tiling Wayland compositor, has been released with blur support as its headline feature — the most requested feature by the community and the highest upvoted GitHub issue. Blur is now available for windows and layer shell components via the ext-background-effect protocol, with support already present in various toolkits and terminals. The release also brings pointer warping while scrolling, pointer support in window screencasts, screencasting improvements, animation enhancements, input device improvements, rendering optimizations, GPU profiling support, and better compatibility with older hardware.
