Nintendo is reportedly planning a revised Switch 2 model for the European Union that features a replaceable battery, in compliance with 2023 EU legislation requiring portable consoles to have user-replaceable batteries by 2027. The change would apply to both the Switch 2 console and Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo has not officially confirmed the plans, and it remains unclear how the revision would affect existing EU units or warranties. Nikkei also noted the change could potentially extend to Japan and the US if consumer laws are updated there.
