NVIDIA driver version 590 discontinues support for Pascal (GTX 10xx) and older GPUs. Arch Linux is transitioning main NVIDIA packages to open kernel modules. Users with Pascal, Maxwell, or older cards must manually switch to the legacy nvidia-580xx-dkms package from AUR to avoid broken graphics. Users with Turing (RTX 20xx, GTX 1650) and newer GPUs will automatically transition to open kernel modules without intervention.
