A newly discovered object named J0529−4351 is confirmed to be the brightest quasar observed. The quasar's extreme brightness is due to its accretion disk, which is formed by material captured by a supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy. The accretion disk is large enough to potentially be imaged and studied. The researchers also speculate that there may be other undiscovered quasars that have been mistaken for stars.
