Shopify's Payments Apps API now includes more granular decline reason codes for rejected payment sessions. Over 20 new error codes have been added to the PaymentSessionStateRejectedReason enum, covering scenarios like insufficient funds, 3D Secure failures, fraud risk, card testing, unsupported currencies, and more. A new source field has also been introduced to indicate whether the rejection came from the payment network/issuer or the provider. Additionally, an existing rejection reason code has been deprecated in favor of a more specific replacement. A GraphQL mutation example demonstrates how to pass the new code and source fields.
