New Planet Energy and Span Africa completed a 1.1MW integrated solar-and-steel infrastructure project for Thuso Mills & Feeds in South Africa. The system exceeded energy generation targets by 110% in its first month, delivering R95,000 in savings and projected R1-million first-year savings. The project features one of South Africa's first large-scale solar-ready agricultural steel structures, providing dual functionality for storage and power generation. Financed through a fully funded power purchase agreement model, the system is expected to generate 50GWh of clean power and reduce 50,000 tons of CO₂ emissions over its 20-year lifespan.
