Posted on April 1st, Woodhouse clarified the intent is genuine: while the deprecation warnings and naming may not land immediately, the goal of cleanly separating CONFIG_INET and CONFIG_IPV4/6 to enable single-protocol builds is a real objective worth pursuing, especially for forward-looking environments.
