AWS launched C8i and C8i-flex EC2 instances powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors. These compute-optimized instances deliver up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth compared to previous Intel-based generations. C8i-flex targets common compute workloads (web servers, databases, caches) in sizes from large to 16xlarge, while C8i offers 13 sizes including bare metal options for intensive workloads requiring continuous high CPU usage. Performance improvements include 60% faster NGINX applications, 40% faster AI recommendation models, and 35% faster Memcached operations versus C7i instances. Available in four AWS regions with multiple purchasing options.
