(NEW) Astro 6: First Look

Astro 6.0 has been released with several notable features graduating from experimental to stable. The Fonts API now supports local fonts, Google Fonts, and Fontsource with a unified component-based API. Live Content Collections enable real-time data fetching at request time, complementing the existing static build-time collections. Content Security Policy support is now stable and built-in by default, with a full configuration API including custom hashing algorithms and directives. Under the hood, the dev server has been refactored for better dev/production parity, especially for Cloudflare deployments. New experimental features include a Rust-based compiler for speed improvements, queued rendering (a two-pass approach replacing recursive rendering, planned as default in Astro 7), and a platform-agnostic route caching API using web-standard cache semantics. The release also upgrades to Zod 4 and requires Node 20+.
