How do you keep up to date?

I wrote a post on my website about the exact same topic almost two years ago. More from my personal perspective as I noticed a sudden change in myself when it comes to learning. I think this is the most important thing in our industry for developers to know, but it’s something that most employers completely ignore. Some companies invest in their workers and give them days for innovation, or pay them to learn stuff in their free time. Others act like feature factories and want you to do stuff using the exact same way it’s been done in the past so they can push more stuff out for their customers to pay for. When you can’t explore new things, I find that to kill motivation.

I think the secret to keeping up to date is to actually go out of your way to learn something new everyday.
It doesn’t have to be big, it could be something small like reading a new article, or watching a new video on youtube.
But if you can learn something new every day, you’ll be surprised how much you can learn in a year.
