Apple has issued advance warnings about two significant networking changes coming in macOS 27. First, AFP (Apple Filing Protocol) support is expected to be dropped, affecting users still relying on Time Capsules or older NAS systems that don't support SMB3. Second, future macOS versions will require TLS 1.2 or later with ATS-compliant ciphersuites and valid certificates for connections to servers handling MDM, device enrollment, app distribution, and software updates. Apple provides a diagnostic logging profile and a sysdiagnose-based log predicate to help admins audit compliance. Both changes are expected to be non-retroactive, and macOS 27's first developer beta is scheduled for June 8, 2026.
