A collaboration between NVIDIA and academic researchers has developed ORBIT-Surgical, a simulation framework to train robots for surgery. The framework supports various maneuvers for laparoscopic procedures and is built using NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Omniverse. ORBIT-Surgical enables developers to train robots to manipulate both rigid and soft objects, resulting in an order of magnitude increase in learning speed. The framework also allows for the generation of high-fidelity synthetic data to train AI models.
