Researchers at NDSS 2025 presented GhostShot, an attack that uses intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) to inject arbitrary grayscale or colored images into CCD cameras under normal lighting conditions. The attack successfully manipulated 15 commercial CCD cameras and demonstrated the ability to mislead computer vision systems and human observers in applications like medical diagnosis, fire detection, QR code scanning, and object detection. The researchers achieved control over injected patterns through amplitude-phase modulation and schematic analysis of IEMI effects.
