NASA researchers at Kennedy Space Center are using Electrodynamic Dust Shield (EDS) technology to mitigate the hazard of lunar dust for astronauts and spacecraft. EDS technology can electrically lift and remove dust from various surfaces, improving the success of Moon missions. The sharp and abrasive nature of lunar regolith dust poses challenges for spacecraft and astronauts. EDS technology, developed since 2004, has shown promising results in vacuum chambers and has been tested in space. It is considered the leading technology for dust removal in space applications.
