A personal account of repurposing an old 2018 gaming PC into a home server running TrueNAS Community Edition. The setup covers RAID 1 storage with two 8TB WD Red Plus drives, automated snapshots, and off-site backups to Backblaze B2 via Backrest and restic. Self-hosted apps include Immich for photo management, Mealie for recipe tracking, Scrutiny for drive health monitoring, and Ollama for running local LLMs. Remote access is handled through Tailscale over WireGuard, avoiding public internet exposure.
