🚀 Announcing My First Big GoLang Project: Landmark API!
Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share my first big GoLang project, Landmark API, with you all! 🎉 It’s been a journey learning Go and building a full-fledged RESTful API, and I can’t wait for you to check it out.
The Landmark API allows you to manage and retrieve detailed information about landmarks from around the world. Whether you’re interested in historical sites, monuments, or tourist spots, this API has it covered with tons of features. And yes, it comes with subscription tiers to cater to different needs, from basic access to full enterprise-level features.

🌟 What I’ve Built
Authentication &amp; Authorization 
This was a big learning curve! I implemented JWT-based authentication and role-based access control, so users and admins can access what they need securely. API key management was another exciting challenge!
Landmark Information 
The API pulls in comprehensive details about landmarks—everything from geolocation and historical significance to visitor information like accessibility and ticket prices.
Advanced Querying 
Go gave me the tools to offer advanced features like pagination, filtering, sorting, and even full-text search. I loved implementing this part because it really makes the API flexible.
Performance &amp; Scalability 
I used Redis for caching, added rate limiting, and worked on optimizing database queries. Building something that could scale and handle loads of requests was a key goal.

💻 Getting It Running
Setting this up in a local environment was a challenge at first, but I finally got everything working! If you want to give it a go, here’s how you can get started:

Clone the repository:

Set up the environment by creating a <code>.env</code> file (this was a cool part of the project where I learned to manage different configs for dev vs. production):

Install dependencies and run the server:

It felt amazing when everything ran smoothly for the first time! 🎉

📊 Subscription Tiers
I also created a tiered pricing model for the API! It’s split into Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Each tier unlocks different features, like more detailed info, higher request limits, and real-time data.

<li>Free: Basic info, 100 requests per hour.</li>
<li>Pro: Detailed descriptions, 1,000 requests per hour.</li>
<li>Enterprise: Full access, unlimited requests, real-time data.</li>

🔒 Security &amp; Performance
Security was another huge part of this project. I learned to hash passwords with bcrypt, set up rate limiting per API key, and sanitize all input. I also explored prepared statements for database queries, making the API more secure and performant.

🤝 Why I Built This
Honestly, this was my first time working with Go at such a large scale, and it’s been an incredible learning experience. Go’s simplicity and performance make it the perfect language for API development. The biggest challenge was optimizing the database queries and setting up caching, but it was so rewarding to see the final result work as expected.
