Manual Prometheus configuration in multi-cluster Kubernetes environments doesn't scale. This post walks through using Project Sveltos to build an event-driven observability pipeline that eliminates manual config management. The approach uses Sveltos ClusterProfiles to deploy Node Exporter with LoadBalancer services on managed clusters, an EventSource/EventTrigger framework to detect external IPs, and automatic creation of 'shadow' selector-less Services and EndpointSlices in the management cluster. Prometheus uses relabeling rules to auto-discover these shadow services, and Grafana is deployed with a sidecar for dashboard hot-loading. The result: adding a new cluster requires only applying a label — no config files are edited manually.
