The MSI PRO B850-P WiFi is a $179 AMD Ryzen AM5 motherboard being targeted by 3mdeb for an open-source firmware port combining Coreboot and AMD's experimental openSIL CPU silicon initialization code. This marks 3mdeb's first Coreboot port to an AMD Ryzen platform, following their earlier Intel Alder Lake work on the MSI PRO Z690-A. Unlike the Alder Lake port which relied on Intel's closed-source FSP, the AM5 port aims for a more fully open-source stack using AMD openSIL. The work is being done without MSI's official support, funded in part by the NLnet Foundation. 3mdeb plans to offer paid Dasharo builds and potentially sell pre-flashed boards once the port matures, though openSIL remains proof-of-concept and not production-ready.
