Two months ago I moved my notes to Obsidian, and I’ve been fairly happy with the result. Here my focus is on convincing you why your S.B. should be public. As I reached the limits of SimpleNote/Notion/GitHub, I thought about these factors for my next notetaking tool.

Moving to Obsidian as a Public Second Brain

I’m dumbfounded that I stumbled upon this article.  The whole idea that you can codify your thought processes into a second brain is fantastic. You managed to put into words and actions things that I have been trying to do for years. Software engineers are constantly hammering away at ideas and solutions that take a lot of effort to materialize or resolve. Recording the process in a wiki or (vb)log is a way of making certain that the next encounter with a similar issue will be resolved much faster. I must have hundreds of wiki pages and personal blogs with very hard earned notes of how any given issue was resolved. Not to mention thousands of pages of notes from lectures and books while trying to assimilate and understand new paradigms. This second brain idea is brilliant. It’s also brilliant to share your hard earned ideas and solutions with the world. In a way generating a critical mass of understanding for resolving real world problems and possibly pushing humanity ever closer to realizing full potential. Thank you for writing this article and sharing your ideas with the world.

Interestin stuff. I guess, i need to try how that works

I’ve just found Obsidian. The transfer process from notion was a bit difficult, but I’ll manually do it for the important ones at some point. I like what I’ve seen of Obsidian so far, and this article has reinforced the desire to do it.
