Firefox is rolling out several new features across versions 148 and 149. A free built-in VPN is coming in Firefox 149 (March 24), offering 50GB/month of proxied browsing in the US, France, Germany, and UK. Firefox 148 is the first browser to ship the Sanitizer API, a new web security standard blocking XSS attacks. Other additions include Split View (two pages side by side), Tab Notes, and a renamed Smart Window (formerly AI Window) for AI-assisted browsing. A redesigned Settings page with improved navigation is coming to Firefox Nightly in April. Firefox is also getting a visual refresh with updated themes, icons, and a new mascot named Kit.
