NestJS provides a Module Decorator, which efficiently organizes the application structure by managing relationships and dependencies between modules and providers. While small applications may only have a root module, larger and more complex applications benefit from a modular approach. Each module encapsulates a distinct set of capabilities, ensuring better maintainability and flexibility.
There are clear similarities between NestJS modules and microservices architecture. Even when adopting a monolithic approach, designing the application with modularity in mind ensures that it can scale when needed.
Consider this scenario: Your team decides to migrate the Products Module into its own service or integrate a third-party Product Management System. Instead of tightly coupling the Orders Module with the core Products Module, you can restructure dependencies so that it interacts with an external Product Provider Module.

With this modular design, adapting the Orders Module to the new Product Provider Module only requires modifying the import paths. By integrating this modular structure with principles from Hexagonal Architecture, you ensure that the monolithic application remains organized, maintainable, and scalable.
