MITRE has released EMB3D, a threat-modeling framework for embedded devices used in critical infrastructure. The framework aims to provide device vendors with a unified understanding of threats and security mechanisms to mitigate them, promoting secure-by-design approaches. Threat actors have targeted industries such as food, agriculture, chemical, water treatment, manufacturing, and energy, and EMB3D helps develop accurate threat models and implements technical mitigations.
