A team of MIT students secured the top spot at the Putnam Mathematical Competition for sixth consecutive year, with four Putnam Fellows being from MIT. Another MIT student won the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam award.

MIT's team won first place at the 86th William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition for the sixth consecutive year. Four of the five top-ranked Putnam Fellows were MIT students, including Luke Robitaille, a four-time Fellow. Sophomore Jessica Wan won the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize for the second consecutive year. MIT's success is attributed to its Putnam seminar (18.A34), which focuses on problem-solving skills and community building among math enthusiasts.
