MIT held its first Robert R. Taylor Day on April 10, honoring Robert Robinson Taylor (Class of 1892), the Institute's first Black graduate and the first academically trained Black architect in the United States. The event at the MIT Museum featured Taylor's original thesis and archival materials, alongside a panel with faculty from MIT and Tuskegee University. The day highlighted an ongoing academic exchange between the two institutions dating back to 2022, including coursework in historic preservation, digital fabrication, and community engagement. Student work from these collaborations contributed to a National Building Museum exhibition on the Tuskegee Chapel, including a robotic brick installation. A documentary on Taylor's life is also in development.
