Microsoft is rolling out changes to the Windows Update experience, most notably allowing users to pause updates indefinitely by selecting a specific pause end date up to 35 days out and extending it as many times as needed. Additional changes include an option to skip updates during device setup (OOBE) and always showing Restart/Shut down options in the Power menu regardless of pending updates. While the added control addresses user frustration over disruptive, untimely restarts, critics note it doesn't solve the underlying problem of buggy updates — and indefinitely deferring patches poses security risks.
